Genting Malaysia narrows loss in 1Q, records revenue of US$494 million

Genting Malaysia Bhd, an international casino operator, has reported a total revenue of just over MYR2.28bn ($493.7m) for the first quarter of 2023, up 32.7% from the same period last year. However, group-wide revenue was down 6.2% sequentially, according to a filing to Bursa Malaysia. The company posted a net loss of almost MYR27.4m for the first quarter of 2023, compared to a net loss of MYR126.5m a year earlier. Genting Malaysia operates Resorts World Genting, Malaysia’s only licensed casino property, and also runs casinos in the Bahamas, Egypt, the UK and the US. The company did not recommend the payment of a dividend for the three months to March 31.
